Cosmetics Production Operative APPLY NOW
Hooded Owls Ltd is a small but growing e-commerce business that designs, makes and sells bathtime products for children. We are currently looking for a production operative to work in our Handmade Cosmetics team making products such as bath bombs, bubble bars and potion kits for our Bathtime Adventures brand.
Job summary
This role is split into 3 key parts.
- Working within the existing Production Team, you will be responsible for hand-making, finishing and packing products such as bath bombs, bubble bars and potion kits in our studio on the Luton Hoo Estate.
- You will also be responsible for some administrative and regulatory tasks using our MRP system, such as updating batch records, registering deliveries, etc
- Under the direction of the Production Manager, the final two hours of each day will involve monitoring the junior Finishing Team as they assemble kits and box sets.
Skills needed
To do this job you will need to be able to:
- Read and follow technical written instructions and processes assiduously
- Precisely measure out ingredients
- Mix and make products, both by hand and using machinery
- Hand-paint and airbrush with excellent attention to detail
- Package finished products to a high standard
- Keep accurate records of production using an MRP system
- Monitor and supervise a small team of students
- From time to time you may also be asked to help with other activities within the business
Relevant experience is an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.

Methodical and organised, you are energetic, have excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of producing products to the highest possible standard. You have the ability to work under pressure within given timescales, and look forward to learning and trying new things. You will need to be comfortable working independently as well as in a team.
Please note you will be working with chemicals and fragrance oils so this role may not be suitable for anyone with allergies or skin disorders. You will be required to wear PPE (supplied) including a face mask at times in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
Hours
This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 6pm with an hour break for lunch, in our studio on the Luton Hoo Estate.
